About Us

Stanford has long been a leader in applying data, statistics, computing, and artificial intelligence to medicine. For decades, faculty have pioneered advances in biomedical informatics, clinical decision support, machine learning, and AI that have transformed biomedical discovery, healthcare delivery, and patient care. These efforts established Stanford as a leader in computational approaches to medicine and highlighted the importance of collaboration among clinicians, data scientists, statisticians, and computer scientists.

Building on this foundation, the Division of Computational Medicine unites interdisciplinary faculty dedicated to advancing computational methods that improve human health. Through collaborations across the Stanford School of Medicine, the University, and Stanford Health Care, the Division develops and translates innovative computational solutions into real-world healthcare applications, ensuring that advances in AI and data science improve outcomes for patients and populations.
